SANY launches autonomus mining trucks in drive to develop safer solutions
On the 11th June, SANY launched it’s first two fully autonomous wide bodied mining trucks in a remote mine site in China. This launch is the start of SANY Heavy Equipment’s focus on unmanned surface mining and well mining equipment.
This development is in response to mining industry’s increased demand for autonomous equipment, especially in extremely remote sites where operation of equipment can be dangerous-such as risk of landslides.
The two electric drive SANY SKT90E’s were deployed onto the site where they demonstrated high-level environmental identification and positioning capacity. Using 5G and cloud based technology the trucks were able to conduct timely decision making and independently complete route-tracking, loading and unloading of materials , and parking-all within a 30cm boundary of accuracy.
Furthermore, the truck’s electric drive technology allows for mining company’s to overcome the burden of fuel shortage in sites at high altitudes.
Sensitive environmental identification
With the support of an integration of multiple sensing technologies including millimeter-wave radar, laser radar, and visual sensor, the truck can conduct the scanning and tracking of obstacles within 150 meters and it can also implement distance ranging and identification within 100 meters in response to different weathers in different seasons.

Following this successful delopment, SANY will now focus on further development of fully autonomous surface mining equipment to help customers ensure a safer work environment and keep the efficiency up but cost down.
